The MultiSpecies Assembly is an installation of tree trunks where on October 3 2025 the first MultiSpecies Assembly took place around a casus brought in by one of the parks gardeners, “Is a tree still be allowed to be a tree?” (for more information on the Assembly see the link to the event). The installation has been placed near the two biggest trees on the event terrain of the Amstelpark, of which the gardener said that these are two of the rare trees in the city that are given the space and allowed to grow as large as they can be. The tree trunks are placed in circles in which a group of people gathered in the outdoors, in presence of more than human beings, to explore how we can take decisions on issues of green maintenance such as pruning trees, from a perspective in which the interest of all life instead of humans is being served.
Since the first assembly took place people and other species such as funghi and mosses are gathering on the tree trunks which are slowly decaying contributing to the parks biodiversity.
The participants of the School for MultiSpecies Knowledges regular convenes here. We welcome everybody to use the installation for a MultiSpecies Assembly!
