Biographies

Evelyn Wan is assistant professor in Media, Arts and Society at the Department of Media and Culture Studies at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She is programme coordinator for MA Arts and Society, and works on interdisciplinary curriculum innovation in the domain of Humane AI. In 2026 she was awarded the KNAW Early Career Partnership recognising her interdisciplinary approach to AI research. She is also the initiator and co-convenor of the inter-Asia Performance Studies working group (2026-2029) at Performance Studies International (PSi). Dr. Wan’s broad research interests are largely organised under the twin concepts of ‘technology’ and ‘decoloniality’, grounded in decolonial media studies and performance studies.

Rodrigo Ochigame is an anthropologist and historian of science and technology, focussing on computing and artificial intelligence. They are assistent professor at Leiden University and are currently conducting the research project Remodelling Rationality, which is a history of unorthodox models of computational reasoning during the Cold War, such as non-classical logics, non-binary Turing machines and unconventional artificial neural networks. Their second project, Beyond “Ground Truth”, is an ethnography of computational modelling, especially machine learning in contemporary mathematics and physics.
