2:30 – 4:30 PM The Perennial Reading Group: “Beyond the War on Invasive Species” – group reading, led by Anne Diestelkamp

A joint reading of “Beyond the War on Invasive Species” by Tao Orion – a critical exploration of how we deal with so-called “invasive” species and the ecosystems we shape. Invasive species are everywhere, from forests and grasslands to mountains and river deltas. Their rapid spread is often seen as a threat to more vulnerable native species and as a fundamental change to the ecosystems on which they depend.

Together, we will read Orion’s call to action and reflect on it, looking beyond the eradication of invasive species to focus on more holistic, permaculture-based approaches to ecological restoration and coexistence.

Handouts will be provided on site. No preparation is necessary.
