Here and Elsewhere | Summer kids workshop (6 – 12 years)

With artist Irene Kopelman

Dutch and English spoken
For kids between 6 – 12. Participation is free, registration mandatory
Maximum participants is 15
For more than ten years, artist Irene Kopelman has been working with scientists during fieldwork and in laboratories to investigate how they collect and process materials. This inspires her to develop her own methods of drawing in which she bridges scientific systems and her own art practice.
As part of her Here and Elsewhere exhibition at Zone2Source, Irene Kopelman will show how she goes about mapping and drawing a geological site, as she did for the work on display. The goal is to see a landscape not as a ‘shape’, but as the result of complex geological processes that eventually led to what we see today. Based on the ceramic stones that are part of the exhibited installation, children will imagine through drawing exercises how the landscape was created and how art can be a way of thinking about geological processes and the design of landscapes.
