Malou van der Molen
M2
Orangerie, August 28 – September 25, 2016
Malou van der Molen spends a working period in the Orangerie during the month of September. Since 2015, she has been collecting square meters of nature in Amsterdam, which she translated into textile designs, to connect the global textile industry with a specific place. A section of water in the canal, the first day of snow, the vegetable shelf at the A&H, living room plants and pets, shredded trees in the Amsterdam forest, rain puddles, a 300-year-old tree in the Hortus, etc. The textile designs, nature elements and photos of the locations, are processed in an installation that covers 31 square meters and is displayed in the Orangery. In addition, the Orangerie will be a temporary studio, accessible to the public, for creating new work based on a number of square meters from the Amstelpark.
