Machine Wilderness is a ongoing program with exhibitions, field research, in-situ prototyping and debate in which relations between technological and natural processes are being been explored. Machine Wilderness is an initiative of Theun Karelse (FoAM) and Alice Smits.

Machine Wilderness is a field research program, in-situ prototyping and debate with the artists Thomas Thwaites, Heather Barnett, Driessens& Verstappen, Ivan Henriques, Spela Petric en Antti Tenetz taking place in ARTIS ZOO in 2022. Organised by Theun Karelse (FoAM) and Alice Smits (Zone2Source) in collaboration with ARTIS
Machine Wilderness is an ongoing research program by Alice Smits (Zone2Source) and Theun Karelse (FoAM). The program was launched in 2015 in ARTIS and has organised several presentations in the Cornwall, Riga, Venice, London, an exhibition in Amstelpark in 2018. The most recent project will be held in ARTIS in 2021.
Exhibition: May 20 – July 8, 2018. Machine Wilderness presents work of Ian Ingram, Driessens & Verstappen, Rihards Vitols and Jip van Leeuwenstein who develop robotic projects for specific ecosystems in the Amstelpark, and experiment with the interaction between technology and the living creatures in the park. Together they explore how technology engages the surrounding and chaotic living nature.
