Sambal tasting as a part of the Kebun Sejarah exhibition

Looking Back

Sunday 31 October we enjoyed the 30 kinds of sambals that were available for tasting at the Glass House of Zone2Source. The tasting attracted more than 200 visitors! The spicy event was a part of the exhibition Kebun Sejarah by artist Kevin van Braak where pepper is one of the crops on display.

Pepper tasting party on Sunday 31 October 2021 from 13.00 – 16.00

The spicy pepper tasting party on Sunday 31 October 2021 is a part of the exhibition Kebun Sejarah by artist Kevin van Braak and exhibition platform Zone2Source about the migration of crops and people around the world. For example, did you know that the pepper used in the authentic Indonesian sambal is not originally from Indonesia but from Mexico?

For home-made sambal and hot sauce makers

Do you enjoy making your own sambal or other pepper-based sauce? Come with a jar of your best (family) recipe and let others taste your sambal/sauce. Sign up before Monday 28th October via this hot sauce form.

We will provide tables and tasting spoons. You may sell jars of your own sambal/sauce if you wish, but that is not the main purpose, it is about exchanging flavors, stories and recipes.

For tasters

Come to Zone2Source at the Glazen Huis in the Amstelpark in Amsterdam on Sunday 31 October, and taste different sambals and pepper sauces and hear stories about the variety of peppers from all over the world.
