Website and documentary: Trial in the park

Trial in the park – the trees speak out on 16 October 2022 was the final of the Shadow Floriade that Zone2Source organised last year, as well as the closing event of the project The Amstelpark – the trees narrate their story by artist Elmo Vermijs. Here, he investigated how the trees of the Amstelpark can be given a legal status and how this could contribute to an equal relationship and better protection of trees, forests and city parks. During this speculative court case in the Amstelpark, we imagined, together with scientists, artists, lawyers and the public, a future in which trees gain rights and become witnesses through which local polluters are held accountable.
