With the project Park Sporen, artist Marjolein Boterenbrood went underground in the Amstelpark and Gijsbrecht van Aemstelpark. She makes a treasure map which shows life under the surface of both parks and the amazing processes at work. A thorough and inspiring exploration at different levels. From the connections between the parks and their environment to the teamwork between plant roots and animals in the soil.
Strangely enough, we know more of the universe than of what is going on below our feet. A tree takes up as much space in the ground as above the surface. Beneath every step you take, countless worms, mites, centipedes, mites, bacteria and fungi mill about. By connecting life above the ground with life beneath the surface, a new dimension of park life is openend up, a process we can perceive with our senses.
