Saturday 28th of October
5pm – 7pm
Het Glazen Huis, Amstelpark
Letting Sounds Go is an invitation to reconsider sound’s environmental entanglement with place, and the impossibility to capture all with modern recording technologies. This is a workshop with Budhaditya Chattopadhyay on 28 October, 5 to 7pm, at Zone2Source (in relation to the exhibition Co-sounding for the Polyphonic Landscapes project) in which the participants will take a listening walk through the Amstelpark, and engage with manifold sonic environments emerging or coalescing on the site. The participants will keep a trace of this interaction in their intangible memory, but not in a recording medium. By subverting the technological obsession to capture all and surveil everything, the participants will focus on intimate encounters, co-listening, and forgetting. The workshop will conclude with a ritual performance giving away sounds where they belong: on the land, as vibrating sources ingrained in and embedded with the sites.
The workshop is public and open for everyone. No prior knowledge is required.
