Can democracy be expanded to a system where not only the voices of people are heard, but also those of trees, animals, fungi and billions of other life forms?
On Animal Day, 4 October 2025, Amstelpark will become the first public Zoöp: a learning environment where human and more-than-human life take centre stage.
Together with Zone2Source, the Zoönomisch Instituut and the Municipality of Amsterdam, we will explore what a city looks like when it is governed as a community of all life. Everyone is welcome. We will start at 2.30 p.m. at the main entrance of Amstelpark.
During the festive launch and walks through the park, you will discover how art, ecology and politics come together in a new form of coexistence. Expect stories that offer a new perspective and new voices, as well as walks through the park led by artists and ecologists.
