Uitwerktuin (workshop for exhaust gardens), PJ Roggeband: Artist in Residence

PJ Roggeband

Orangery: September 7 to October 12, 2014
Opening September 21 at 3 p.m. Artist Talks October 12, 4 p.m

For 5 weeks, PJ Roggeband is the second artist to spend a period in the Amstelpark for artistic research. During this period he develops and presents his project EXHAUST GARDEN. A number of prototypes of the EXHAUST GARDEN will be displayed in the Orangerie. In addition, a number of new models are being developed, such as the UITHUILTUIN and the KRONKELTUIN. There will also be a small overview of previous green projects such as Plattegrond (2009), an expedition through squatted allotments in Utrecht; Oranjegeheim (2008), a project about ‘regal gardening’ based on the then sensational palace garden in Honselersdijk and the social art project Nootgroen (2012-2015).

In addition to his ‘workshop for possible gardens’, open to the public from Friday to Sunday, artist and garden fantasist PJ Roggeband will also conduct research into the role that portable nature and mobile greenery can play in the urban environment. Naturally, some exhaust gardens will be available for a walk through the park.
