Are you already longing for a new trip after the summer holidays? A trip not far away, a unique destination, tailor-made for you? From 1 to 21 September, artist collective Circus Andersom opens the Aardereisburo (Earth Travel Agency) at Zone2Source in the Rietveldhuis, Amstelpark. Be tempted by hushed, slowed down, unprecedented travel destinations, tailored exactly to your needs.

The Tinteltuin, the Luisterrijk, the Aaivallei, the Fluisterbos… In the Rietveldhuis, Circus Andersom welcomes passers-by with brightly coloured offers and slick advertising. An employee of this Earth Travel Agency recommends a fully customised trip to one or more Earth destinations in the park.

The theatrical Earth Travel Agency invites internal experiential trips to the Earth and exchanges with each other about the meaning of the Earth for us and how people feel connected to it. An exploration of slowing down, connecting, deepening and how to reconnect with and experience the Earth through this. The Earth Journey Agency is a new starting point to let people experience from optimism that it is not only very urgent to tighten our connection with the Earth, but that it is also very important for our own individual well-being, that we feel connected. The story is not about the end of the Earth, not about the crisis, not about the dead-end roads we have taken as humans, but about the human desire to feel connected to the Earth, which carries us, nourishes us and gives us a place.

The Aardereisburo (Earth Travel Agency) is open four days a week with a staff member: on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm.

The times when the Earth Travel Agency is unmanned, inspiring Earth journeys remain possible. A simple flow chart, which can be found at the Rietveld House, gives access to personally appropriate Earth Journey destinations; places in the park where one’s own Journey to Earth can be made.

Circus Andersom is a collective at the intersection of autonomous art and social design. The collective is formed by Esme Calis, Martijn Engelbregt, Linda Koene and Allard Medema and assisted for this project by Roos Beute. We specialise in developing and designing projects in which social issues are presented in an accessible and personal way. Humour and language are an important factor here, and we do not shy away from abrasion because we know that it is precisely from discomfort that dialogue and connection arise.

After the Earth-stirring project CELEBRATE THE EARTH in the Glass House in the Amstelpark from December 2023 to January 2024, and extensive research into travelling to Earth in Groningen with Groninger farmers and a neighbourhood market in the spring of this year, Circus Andersom is now bringing the Earth Travel Agency to Amsterdam.
